Sweet Slow Burn

Installed at the Glassbox Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA from February 12-16, 2024, this solo exhibition features sugar and rebar sculptures, Filipino soap operas hidden in tiles, acrylic nails, and crochet lace. These architectural, saccharine, and domestic objects point to intersecting histories, ranging from familial, individual, to historical and colonial.

In questioning gendered spaces and exploring the marginal bounds of hyperfemininity, Sweet Slow Burn explores queer futurity and the subversive nature of creating space made from broken pieces of oppressive structures.
