Artist Bio

lyra purugganan (they/she) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Santa Barbara, CA. purugganan received a BFA in printmaking from The Ohio State University in 2021 and received a MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2024. 

Influenced by their upbringing between the Philippines and the US, purugganan explores selfhood and their intersecting identities. Through sculpture, installation, and craft, they rethink the possibilities of materials, creating uncategorizable complexities within familiar forms. 

As an emerging artist, lyra purugganan has participated in exhibitions in Central Ohio and Southern California. They have been featured in publications like Folklore As Resistance, The Lantern, Cleveland Magazine, and The Current.
